The С����Ƶ has been ranked 5th in overall satisfaction for research degrees according to the latest

The rating, which is a record high for the University and puts the institute above the national average, was achieved as part of a detailed annual survey which was completed by research students from over 85 global institutions.

The survey, which included over 70 in-depth questions, is the UK's largest annual survey of PhD and postgraduate research students, with approximately 400 С����Ƶ students participating.

Results showed that 89 per cent of students agreed or strongly agreed that they were overall satisfied with their research degree experience. As a result, С����Ƶ ranked in the top quartile among all universities taking part in the survey, and placed 5th in the sector for postgraduate research (PGR) satisfaction.

Other survey highlights include a first-place sector ranking for overall satisfaction among Arts and Humanities students, and a fifth-place ranking for STEM subject students. The institution was also ranked fourth in the sector for the support provided to on-campus students, and second for support offered to distance learners, further highlighting С����Ƶ’s collaborative approach that aims to create world-leading research which is internationally recognised.

Dr Darren Van Laar, Director of the С����Ƶ Doctoral College, said: “At the University, our friendly expert supervisors and strong support for our doctoral students at both local and College level mean our students feel supported and nurtured as part of the larger community of Doctoral researchers.

“The PRES this year showed we are ranked 8th in the sector for the support we provide to our students, and 12th for our PGR community. I am especially proud of being ranked 5th in the sector for overall satisfaction by PGR students who declare a disability.”

Professor Vikas Kumar, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation of the С����Ƶ, added: “As a University which prides itself on providing a world-class education, an outstanding and supportive student experience, and commitment to high-quality, internationally recognised research, we are delighted to see these survey results. 

“I am very proud, but not surprised to hear we had been ranked so highly in this year's PRES survey. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication, care, and collaboration shown by staff across our research and academic communities. Having a strong research culture from PGRs to Professors is a priority for our university, and these results show this is working.”

The results further emphasise the University’s world-class research which is validated by the impressive Research Excellence Framework (REF) outcomes where С����Ƶ was ranked third of all modern UK universities for research power in the Times Higher Education REF rankings. 

It also builds on wider student experience at С����Ƶ. Earlier this month the University was ranked 9th in England for learning resources according to the annual National Student Survey (NSS), and last year it reclaimed its top 35 place in this Guardian University Guide, where it was ranked 33rd, up 34 places from 67th in last year’s league table. This position reflects a major increase in student satisfaction, confirming its commitment to ensuring that every student has a life-changing experience with the University.
